Curcumin is the main active ingredient in turmeric. It has powerful anti-inflammatory effects and is a very strong antioxidant. Unfortunately, curcumin is poorly absorbed into the bloodstream. It helps to consume black pepper with it, which contains piperine… a natural substance that enhances the absorption of curcumin by 2000%. This is why whenever we use turmeric in our recipes, we always add a crack of pepper to increase the absorption of the anti-inflammatory properties.

Ingredients

3 Tbsp Changing Habits Gelatin mixed with 1 cup water (set aside to ‘bloom’ and thicken)
1/4 cup lemon juice
Crack of pepper
Honey to taste
1 tsp vanilla
270ml (1 cup) coconut cream
1 tsp Changing Habits Inflammation Ease Herbs
2 tsp Changing Habits Turmeric Powder
2 Tbsp Changing Habits Chia Seeds

Method

  1. Once the gelatin has bloomed, add it + coconut cream, inflammation ease, vanilla, turmeric, pepper and chia seeds to a small saucepan. Heat on a low heat until the gelatin has completely dissolved. Remove from the heat and stir in the honey to taste.
  2. Line a container or square tin with baking paper.
  3. Pour the mixture into the lined tin or container and place in the fridge to set.
  4. Once it’s ready, slice into squares.
